New does not mean "factory serviced" which was in the fine print. It certainly seems new and I've had no problems with it. When I wrote to the seller, I got no reply. The package insert was for a different model. It did not come in a new box. I just hope this iron lasts more than one year, as I like the iron; if I had even purchased the $29 iron from another seller, who knows if it would last more than a year. A good, long lasting iron is a rare find these days.
